Azerbaijan: Baku & the Mountains
Six days between the Caspian shore and the Caucasus — Baku old city, Gobustan, Gabala and Sheki.
Baku · Azerbaijan
Caspian shoreline, a walled old city and mountain villages a few hours from Baku.
Baku is a compact and unusually photogenic capital: a UNESCO-listed walled old city with the Maiden Tower and Shirvanshahs' Palace, wrapped by a seafront boulevard and overlooked by the Flame Towers.
Outside the city, Gobustan preserves thousands of years of rock art alongside mud volcanoes. North, the road climbs to Quba and the mountain village of Khinalug at over 2,000 metres; north-west lie Sheki and its eighteenth-century Khan's Palace.
Four to six days covers Baku and one mountain excursion comfortably.
One-stop flights from Pakistan via Gulf hubs or Istanbul. Visa requirements change periodically — confirm with our visa desk before booking.
