Thailand

Temples and markets in Bangkok, limestone islands and beaches in the south.

About Thailand

Thailand splits neatly into two halves. Bangkok is temples, river boats and markets — the Grand Palace, Wat Arun across the Chao Phraya, and the floating and night markets that most visitors remember longest.

The south is beaches and limestone karsts. Phuket is the easiest base, with Phi Phi and James Bond Island reached by day boat, and Krabi a quieter alternative.

Eight to ten days is comfortable for Bangkok plus one southern base.
